About Smart-cbat
The SMART-CBAT (Sustainable Materials and Technologies for Circular Batteries) project has officially started on the 1st of July 2025. The SMART-CBAT project, which will last for 3 years, will contribute to the need for high-performance batteries that are safe, offer higher energy density, longer life and charge faster.
Based on current and most promising technological developments, this project will develop scalable and sustainable battery production technologies that minimize both dependence on scarce materials and environmental impact, while strengthening the country’s energy security and technological independence. By developing high-quality battery components, equipment, and alternative, sustainable processes, this initiative will pave the way for next-generation technologies, offering solutions for the increasing demand in a wide range of applications.
Objectives
Develop and demonstrate sustainable anode technologies.
Develop and demonstrate sustainable anode. Develop new sustainable productions processes for CO2-free cathodes and advanced thin-film processing.
Develop roll-to-roll pre- and post-treatment methods.
Develop third generation, solid-state electrolytes.
